When Your Creative Routine Stops Working (And What to Do About It)
I was listening to the CHANI app weekly astrology forecast and perusing the app's weekly theme and I really liked what it had to say this week:
'Rebirth is my right, but it requires me to make a sacrifice to its fire. I offer my self-pity, my arrogance and my resentments in exchange for my renewal."
WHEW.
Felt that.
And it has me reflecting a lot on the routines and practices that I have in place that are *not* actually serving me; that are no longer in alignment; that do not allow for rebirth and renewal.
Virgo is closely related to routines and processes and doings things intentionally and correctly (or close to). It's going through things with a fine tooth combed. It's accountability. It's doing what you said you were going to do.
Not for self-punishment but for the integrity of your own growth.
In terms of creativity, I know for me I am always looking at the ways that I distract myself from having a creative routine (this offering is one of the practices I have in place) and fully embodying my creative Self.
I am looking closely at this time at the cost of my avoidance and what what habits, patterns or routines are ready to be composted so that my creativity can be more fully and freely expressed.
When we think about this within our creativity and our creative practices, we might ask ourselves:
What is my relationship to routines and processes?
Do I have any fears or resistance around them?
What creative habits are working for me right now?
Which ones are not?
What types of processes and systems (or structures) might support the nourishment and embodied expression of my creativity?
What action could I take towards making that a reality for myself?
